Plant protection in winter? Why? - Tricho Immune

Tricho Immun

In this post We would like to highlight some important parts of the lecture given by Prof. Dr. Erzsébet Karaffa, Professor of the University of Debrecen to our resellers. He spoke about the discovery of a Trichoderma fungus in a plant in Tokaj, in an area heavily affected by a symptom complex of grapevines with no symptoms of grapevine tuberculosis (GTD).

In the nearly 10 years since their discovery, there have been numerous experiments and tests on these Trichoderma strainse.g. which host plant is effective against which pathogens, how it is affected by different pesticides, extreme weather conditions, etc...

Studies show that it appears to be effective against a number of pathogens that are also a problem in home gardens, such as - without claiming to be exhaustive - for example in stone fruit Monilinia laxa, Monilinia fructigena, walnut Botryosphaeriadothidea, tomato plants (Phytophtora infestans), cucumber Peronospora sp., apple tree blight (Venturia inaequalis).

But why are we talking about it now, in winter (too)?

Because. the mushroom can work effectively when used as a preventive measure. This is necessary because it takes 12 to 24 hours to enter the plant after application, and then takes 3 to 4 weeks to multiply enough to have a sufficient effect, even on early invaders (Taphrina, Monilinia).
