Zolt\u00e1n Lutor<\/strong> Our gardening friend looks after two \u201emountain vineyards\u201d (one in Somogy, the other near Pannonhalma), whilst living in Budapest. For them, simply \u201epopping round to have a look\u201d isn\u2019t an option; what\u2019s more, he wanted to avoid using chemicals, as the fruit is consumed by the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zolt\u00e1n has tested it, has experience with it, and it\u2019s the sort of a gentle plant protection system<\/strong> set up, which worked flawlessly even during this year\u2019s dreadful drought!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For him, the key to success lies in early prevention and the power of beneficial fungi: Tricho Immun is the cornerstone of his defence strategy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201eLast year, after a good 20 years, we were able to taste the Yellow Muscat again, and so far this year it\u2019s been absolutely flawless \u2013 not a single bad berry! Which is quite something, because I reckon this variety would rot even in a sterile room\u2026\u201d \u2013<\/em> says Zolt\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Zolt\u00e1n\u2019s step-by-step guide to growing grapes:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. When pruning<\/strong>: Wound closure and cleansing Tricho Immun<\/strong><\/a>- (beneficial fungi colonise wound surfaces, preventing pathogens from taking hold).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. When selecting shoots<\/strong> (April): Another Tricho Immun<\/strong><\/a> treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. In early May<\/strong>: Repeated Tricho Immun<\/strong><\/a> or lecithin spraying. (Important rule: Tricho fungi do not grow at temperatures above 30 \u00b0C, so it is worth applying the treatment before the heatwave sets in!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. In the summer heat<\/strong> (June\u2013July): When the heatwave arrives, Zolt\u00e1n the Bacillus<\/em> switched to a product containing this ingredient, which withstands heat extremely well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Zolt\u00e1n\u2019s method has proven effective not only with resistant varieties (P\u00f6l\u00f6skei, Moldova) but also with more delicate varieties (Irsai Oliv\u00e9r, Hamburg Muscat, Chardonnay, Yellow Muscat). He supplements pest control by maintaining cover crops between the rows and flowering meadows around the vineyard, thereby creating a biological balance that helps to keep insect pests in check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zolt\u00e1n noticed that whilst the vines on his open, breezy mountain estates remained completely disease-free, in his garden at home \u2013 where the row of Leyland cypresses next door casts a shadow and makes the air more stifling \u2013 the same variety was suffering from a slight leaf disease. This also shows just how important it is that good air circulation<\/strong> in chemical-free viticulture!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case of the more resistant varieties, however, the Tricho Immun<\/strong><\/a> With this technology, there were no problems whatsoever anywhere in the world this year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The end result? Healthy, chemical-free grapes that children and grandchildren can happily eat straight from the vine!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
