Pontius, Servace, Boniface... The saints with frost. Familiar, right? According to folklore, this is when the weather turns suddenly cold, often with frost, which can ruin buds, fresh shoots and flowers. That's why cautious gardeners tend to plant seedlings only after this time.
In the meantime, it's worth thinking about what you can do to keep your fruit and vegetables healthy.
We stress the importance of soil conservation, such as tillage, minimizing rotation, the importance of mulching and increasing soil organic matter. Most of the vegetable crops such as radishes, lettuce, peas, cucumbers and courgettes are now well established and even sprouting. However, there are some crops that we prefer to plant, typically peppers, tomatoes, sweet potatoes and some squashes.

When planting these, we use the much-mentioned rooting products: MikoMax Garden, Kelpak, Asco Start Bio Bakter.

Once all the seedlings have sprouted and all the seedlings are in the ground, rooting starts and we need to start feeding the plants slowly to ensure that there is enough supply for the intensive growth phase.

What can we feed you?
💚 DanuVital Bio+ It contains 10 macro, meso and micro elements, a perfect combination for the harmonious nutrition of the plant and the prevention of deficiencies.
You can also feed them with algae, such as Asco Alga, which promotes intensive growth through its cytokinin hormone action and protects against various stress effects.

What can we do on the crop protection front for our crops?
We can support our plants from inside and outside. Internal protection from Tricho Immun internal Trichoderma a single application of which can be used to protect against e.g. seedling blight, peronospora, tomato or potato blight, alternaria, to name just the most common.
Provides external protection for the Softguard, the chitosan it contains causes the plant to act as if it were being attacked by an insect or fungus, triggering the plant's natural defence mechanisms.

This can be complemented by another physical protection, silicon. From Ino Si Its high silicon content reflects light in a similar way to tiny glass crystals, so it is not only useful against sunburn, but also keeps caterpillars or chewing mouth-breathing insects away from siliceous leaves.
But why do we say lazy gardener? Stubborn made simple!
Because Danuba Garden's products are not plant-specific, you don't have to treat each species separately, as you used to do in traditional chemical pest management. A dose mixed in a backpack sprayer can be sprayed on everything: vegetables, fruits, ornamentals, lawns. All-in-all environmentally, child, pet and gardener friendly!

So in time, the treatments look like this:
- after germination and planting, a preventive spray with Tricho Immun (50 g/10 l water) + Asco Alga (2 dl/10 l water)
- after about two weeks, a soil treatment: Blackjak (2 dl / 10 litres of water) + DanuVital Bio+ (2 dl / 10 litres of water)
- after about two weeks Asco Alga (2 dl / 10 l water)
- after about two weeks, DanuVital Bio+ again (2 dl / 10 litres of water)
From Ino Si-t should be used when the sun is getting very hot, UV radiation is high and/or a prolonged period of low rainfall is forecast. Ino Si is the only product that we do not recommend mixing with other products due to its alkaline pH. But here's a cheat sheet for you, which can be found in this earlier blog post!

And what should you do if you've planted your seedlings but the cold weather has stunted their growth?
This can often happen. Cold is also a serious stress for seedlings. And the fastest way to get out of stress is with algae, so you can use Kelpak or Asco Alga to "cure".
