In the last few years, many pesticide active substances have been withdrawn from the market or their classification has been changed, making it more difficult to control them with home use. But there's no need to make house spraying the bogeyman of home gardening, we show you what we recommend.
However, more and more biological or chemical free has hit the shelves. There is a lot of information circulating about them, making it increasingly difficult to navigate between the active ingredients, their quality, their effects and the various marketing ploys. Be aware, gather information!
Why is house spraying important?
For proper plant protection, it is important that gardeners do not only use symptomatic treatment, but also focus on strengthening the immune system of the plants. This includes improving soil conditions, plant nutrition and preventive, gentle plant protection.

Spraying at home with organic products
VIDEO: DanubaGarden aims, among other things, to provide credible information and to encourage gardeners to think not only in terms of symptomatic treatment, but also in terms of strengthening the immune system of plants:
- by improving the condition of the soil: organic matter replacement, structure repair (Mikomax, Blackjak)
- plant nutrition: foliar fertilisers, algae (DanuVital Bio+, Asco Alga, Kelpak)
- preventive, gentle plant protection (Tricho Immun, SoftGuard, Ino Si)
This of course closely involves the correct agrotechnics, mulching is.
But since we're on the subject of homemade chemical-free pest control, let's look at what we can do to help our plants.

SoftGuard: Features and benefits
Kitozánt (a simple substance that kills bacteria, fungi and insects) and organic matter, which contains:
- When sprayed on the leaf, the plant perceives it as a chitin - an enemy - and naturally triggers the plant's defence system
- Increases the production of the plant's chitinolytic (chitinase) enzyme, which breaks down the exoskeleton of insects and fungi that get on the plant
- Forms a coating to strengthen the surface of the leaf, thus increasing its resistance

Ino Si: Features and benefits
With silicon - as it happens in nature: it has been observed that plants increase their silicon content on their own under stress or attack, which is why more research has been done recently. The effect of this has been to increase the silicon content of silicon:
- Built into the surface cells of the leaves, it strengthens the leaf, thickens leaf hairs
- Its micronised glass-particle structure provides a physical barrier to the movement of fungal filaments and caterpillars
- Very small silicon crystals reflect light, cooling the plant and protecting it from sunburn

Tricho Immun: Features and benefits
Living in plant tissues Trichoderma fungiwhich has the following effects:
- They take up space from pathogenic fungi, then trap and neutralise them in a loop
- They produce plant hormones that boost the immune system and growth of the crop
- Paralyses the wound surface, accelerates wound healing
Steps for house spraying
- Preparing a defence:
- Autumn spraying: Tricho Immune should be used to establish control when the plants are still in the green foliage stage. Trichoderma fungi are active at temperatures as low as 5 degrees Celsius, so spraying can be started in autumn.
- Winter/early spring spraying: At the end of winter or early spring, immediately after pruning or when the seedlings have been planted, spray again with Tricho Immune to give the plants a strong base protection.
- Protection against temperature rise:
- SoftGuard application: When temperatures are rising and there is a risk of infestations (e.g. cucumber peronospora, tomato plague) or insect invasions (aphids, bedbugs, potato beetles), the use of SoftGuard is recommended.
- Repeated treatment: The effect of SoftGuard chitosan lasts for 10-14 days, so spray again if pests are still present.
- Additional protection:
- Ino Si application: Between two SoftGuard treatments, Ino Si silicon can be used to further strengthen the plants' resistance.
- Sprayer cleaning:
- Always make sure that always wash the sprayer well, never mix it with pesticide sprays!
Practical advice
- Always follow the dosage instructions for the products (Tricho Immune: 50 g in 10 litres of water; SoftGuard: 2 dl in 10 litres of water; Ino Si: 2 dl in 10 litres of water).
- Check the weather before spraying, as it is not advisable to spray before rain.
- Pay attention to the appropriate spraying times, which are adapted to the stage of development of the plants and the current temperature conditions.
How do we use Ino Si, Tricho Immune and SoftGuard products when spraying at home?
The Trichoderma fungus
VIDEO: Tricho ImmunThe Trichoderma fungi found in Trichoderma tolerate frost well and even work at 5 degrees Celsius, so this treatment is a good way to establish protection: spraying already in the autumn when the leaves are green, and then in late winter/early spring after pruning or after planting the seedlings (until temperatures reach 25 degrees Celsius for a long period), it is advisable to repeat the treatment.
Dose: 50 g mixed in 10 litres of water.
Chitosan
As temperatures rise, and with higher infections (e.g. cucumber peronospora, tomato blight, typically in July) or insect invasions(aphids, bedbugs, potato beetles) before the SoftGuard deployment.
Dose: 2 dl mixed in 10 litres of water.
Silicon
The effect of chitosan lasts for 10-14 days, so treatments must be repeated later, if the attacks persist. Between two treatments we can use the Ino Si a preparation containing sialcium.
Dose: 2 dl mixed in 10 litres of water.
Homemade spraying - User reviews
Used product: Ino Si
Kornélia Dezső (Nelli) with the help of our horticultural consultant, we have achieved outstanding results with a gardener using Danuba Garden products, who was proud to share his results with us:
🍎 Powdery mildew has disappeared from the apple tree,
🌹And, what's really spectacular are the roses. The yellow leaves have completely disappeared. They are green again. Only the brown spots are left on them. The plants will then be sprayed with our Ino Si - high silicon foliar fertilizer.
