When we talk about taffron sprays, we can also talk about copper or sulphur based sprays, but we prefer to recommend natural taffron sprays containing the fungus trichoderma.
Taffin disease, when it attacks peach trees, often leaves farmers feeling helpless. But what happens if the right measures are taken? Here is a case where the right treatments can successfully save and revitalise an infected tree.
Sprays against Tafrina - Recognising the infection
The taffrail leaf curl is caused by a fungus, the Taphrina deformans. The first signs of taffra disease appear on the leaves. This fungal infection spreads rapidly and in severe cases can destroy the entire foliage. As soon as we noticed the problem, we had to act immediately.

Peach taffyrinicides - How to start treatment
To treat infected trees, the SoftGuard and Tricho Immun products have been used. A SoftGuard provides strong protection against fungal diseases, while the Tricho Immun, a bio-based plant protection product, helps to strengthen the immune system of the tree. Our Tricho Immune product is a Hungarian patent developed by scientists at the University of Debrecen.

Unlike Trifender, the two Trichoderma strains in Tricho Immun live in the plant, not in the soil. Soon after the treatments, new shoots appeared, indicating that the tree was beginning to regenerate.
Can it be sprayed against taffrail?
Yes, Tricho Immune can be sprayed. Tricho Immun is a biological plant protection product mainly used for soil and seed treatment, but can also be effective when sprayed on leaves. When spraying, it is important to consider the needs of the specific plant and the treatment instructions to achieve the best results. Be sure to spray at the prescribed dose and at the right time to avoid damaging plants or reducing effectiveness.

Did you know that these Trichoderma strains were developed by Prof. Dr. Erzsébet Karaffa and Dr. Csilla Kovács of the University of Debrecen? The research started in 2015 in the Tokaj wine region.

Sprays against Tafrina - Rebuilding the foliage
After a few weeks, the foliage has strengthened considerably and the small peaches have appeared. This shows that the initial treatments had a positive effect and the tree remained viable.

Tafrina control sprays - Additional nutrients and protection
As the tree grows stronger, the next step is to Asco Alga and the DanuVital Bio+ treatments we plan to use. Available at Asco Alga preparation is excellent for promoting the photosynthesis process, while the DanuVital Bio+ provides the plant with additional nutrients to maximise its growth and productivity.
Sprays against Tafrina - Summary
This method not only ensures the survival of the trees, but also improves the quantity and quality of the harvest. This type of a proactive approach to plant protection an investment that pays off in the long term.
