The lifesaver for our lawns!

VIDEO: golf courses are formed from well-ventilated, light-textured, sandy soils. In particular, "greens" areas around holes have a high sand content above 80%. This ensures that heavy treading under intensive irrigation does not compact the soil. This is what makes the lawn so green all the time.

This is why those who want a nice lawn on clay soil are in a difficult situation. Compacted soils need to be loosened with sand, minerals such as perlite, or organic matter.

However, there is a disadvantage to sandy soils!

dry earth

  1. The light colour alone shows that it is low in organic matter
  2. The sand particles are ~100 times larger than the clay particles, so water runs through the large gaps between them, drying out quickly
  3. The low humus content means there is nothing to bind the water and nutrients in the root zone
Blackjak

The graph shows, that as the amount of humus constituents increases, the root mass of the plant increases. This peaks at around 100 ppm and then decreases at 300 ppm.

This means that in soils with low humus content, it is worth increasing the humus content, but there is an upper limit to this, e.g. don't plant plants in organic manure or peat, because that's too much of a good thing 😀

Blackjak

This experiment was carried out in 2016 at Ohio University.

In the experiment, a 10-day drought was simulated to see how many % of the leaves died. It can be seen that the Blackjak only 20% of the leaves turned yellow after foliar treatment, compared to 33% in the untreated control. That is 40% fewer leaves died!

Blackjak

This experiment was carried out by Michigan State University in the USA in 2013, led by Dr K. Frank.

The experiment looked at the colour of the lawn on a 10-point scale. It can be seen that spraying Blackjak on the canopy can green the lawn by almost 1 unit!

Based on US data, the recommended dose to have a beautiful lawn is 0.5-1.5 litres/1,000 nm2 Blackjak. Lower dose in cold weather, higher dose in warm weather. Application can be repeated every 2-4 weeks.

VIDEO: Blackjak Europe's leading hummus product is made using a chemical-free process, so all the beneficial elements found in Leonardite are included. The pH of the product remains acidic, meaning that the humic acids remain acidic, and we do not alkalise the product, which reduces its effectiveness.

But what is the much-talked-about liquid humus, Blackjak?

VIDEO: Blackjak leonardite is named after Professor Leonard, who researched the subject. Leonardite is the lignification (mineralisation) of plant remains that have decomposed over millions of years, in effect a highly oxidised lignite that is mined in many places around the world. The product is named after two of Sofbey's executives (Mr Black and Mr Jak), which is a fitting reference to its blackness.

Did you know that the Blackjak Europe's No. 1 hummus product?

Although there are several types of liquid hops (e.g. peat or Hungarian leonardite) available on the market, the production process is completely unique, in addition to the origin of the raw material. At present, only the Blackjak is made without chemical intervention, using only physical grinding. The production process preserves the original, slightly acidic pH of around 5. Furthermore, as no chemical solvent extraction is used, all the original components of the hops (not only the soluble ones): humic, ulmic, fulvic and humic acids are retained.

In this blog post We have also written more about our Blackjak product and its impact. Among other things, we also report on interesting experiments and results. And in this article we look at the about turf and grass aeration we write in detail.
