Is it a problem that you can’t get out to the vineyard every day or even every week, but you’d still like to grow beautiful, healthy grapes for your family using chemical-free methods?
You’re not alone!

Zoltán Lutor Our gardening friend looks after two „mountain vineyards” (one in Somogy, the other near Pannonhalma), whilst living in Budapest. For them, simply „popping round to have a look” isn’t an option; what’s more, he wanted to avoid using chemicals, as the fruit is consumed by the family.
Zoltán has tested it, has experience with it, and it’s the sort of a gentle plant protection system set up, which worked flawlessly even during this year’s dreadful drought!
For him, the key to success lies in early prevention and the power of beneficial fungi: Tricho Immun is the cornerstone of his defence strategy.
„Last year, after a good 20 years, we were able to taste the Yellow Muscat again, and so far this year it’s been absolutely flawless – not a single bad berry! Which is quite something, because I reckon this variety would rot even in a sterile room…” – says Zoltán.
Zoltán’s step-by-step guide to growing grapes:
1. When pruning: Wound closure and cleansing Tricho Immun- (beneficial fungi colonise wound surfaces, preventing pathogens from taking hold).
2. When selecting shoots (April): Another Tricho Immun treatment.
3. In early May: Repeated Tricho Immun or lecithin spraying. (Important rule: Tricho fungi do not grow at temperatures above 30 °C, so it is worth applying the treatment before the heatwave sets in!)
4. In the summer heat (June–July): When the heatwave arrives, Zoltán the Bacillus switched to a product containing this ingredient, which withstands heat extremely well.

Zoltán’s method has proven effective not only with resistant varieties (Pölöskei, Moldova) but also with more delicate varieties (Irsai Olivér, Hamburg Muscat, Chardonnay, Yellow Muscat). He supplements pest control by maintaining cover crops between the rows and flowering meadows around the vineyard, thereby creating a biological balance that helps to keep insect pests in check.
Interesting insights into microclimates and natural balancel
Zoltán noticed that whilst the vines on his open, breezy mountain estates remained completely disease-free, in his garden at home – where the row of Leyland cypresses next door casts a shadow and makes the air more stifling – the same variety was suffering from a slight leaf disease. This also shows just how important it is that good air circulation in chemical-free viticulture!
In the case of the more resistant varieties, however, the Tricho Immun With this technology, there were no problems whatsoever anywhere in the world this year.

The end result? Healthy, chemical-free grapes that children and grandchildren can happily eat straight from the vine!
Our expert’s comment on Zoltán’s report:
„Congratulations to Zoltán! Even renowned research groups with large teams of researchers do not always succeed in developing similarly effective technology for copper- and sulphur-free vine protection.”.
This also proves that we need to think in terms of complex technology, rather than individual miracle cures! The key to Zoltán’s success was the Tricho Immun In addition, cover crops between the rows and the surrounding flowering meadows were also needed, as these attracted beneficial predatory insects and birds.
